This design based on Ian Kennedy artwork is now finished, meaning I not going any further with it, I could but that’s always the problem with CGI, you always feel you can do more or need too.
First up is my finished renders, I will share specs later and I will update this thread, I have far to many threads for the same projects on this blog.
I am moving on to another design from another DC Thomson Starblazer comic, issue 103 ROBOTS OF DEATH Cover Artist: Keith Robson but its the internal art where the designs are found credited to Carlos Pino.
Of course I am taking a few liberties with the design going from the drawn to 3D,and I am not sure about the aft stabilizer but in the comic they do land on the surface.
I don’t often post art work by other people with my designs, based on works film or artwork that have inspired me.. Today I got this from a friend, who I shared my McCall Class ship build with and it rocks, and has a book quality to the cover I think.. he also kindly gave me credit also in the image and not his own.
I would like to think that Mr Robert McCall and Carl Sagan who find this a wonderful tribute to their vision.. and I take no credit for the design, that goes to Robert McCall.
Inspired by the artwork of Robert McCall,

I have used Lightwave for around 6 years, and I don´t consider myself an expert, perhaps well-informed would be better way to describe myself in this, there are a lot of great modellers I know and they have been very generous with their time, knowledge and skill. Some work in the film or TV, others are not working in it but they are as good and as quick to give advice, suggestions and above all help.( they are in my Blogroll area) VK08 and Mikala to name but two of the best modellers I know.
Sometime ago on one 3D forum http://www.3dgladiators.com/ (now closed) we held a design contest, to build a cargo ship or anything that is connected with cargo, this design was my submission for it. (I did not win but the one that did was well deserved).
but it was liked it a lot, and some members who have complemented on it, which is always great and a reward in itself for a modeller or designer.
(I think I can call myself a designer now).
Alas I lost this model in a PC crash before I could finish it, but it’s not the end of the design. As I am coming to the end of a (year-long) project, which is my first training manual for building a model in lightwave which is the USS Enterprise from the original TV show 1960s and it’s aimed at new modeller using Lightwave.
But more on that later. I will be returning to this design and rework it for an other exciting project with my cgi partner by the name of Dan Baran aka Fretslayer, there will be more on that in the future.
